The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has congratulated the Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodinma, over his reelection victory in Saturday’s governorship election.
Governor Uzodinma was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as Governor-elect on Sunday.
Uzodinma, who ran on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 540,308 votes to defeat his closest rival from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Samuel Anyanwu, who scored 71,503 votes just as the candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Athan Achonu, came third with 64,081 votes.
The NANS Vice President, Special Duties, Senator Ahaneku Valentine Nzubechi in his congratulatory message made available to journalists noted that Uzodinma’s victory represents the verdict of the people that the incumbent governor performed well in office and thus deserves a second term.
Nzubechi revealed that since Uzodinma assumed office since his first tenure, he's administration has delivered many unprecedented accomplishments that can only be traced to the ingenuity of his personality and the purposefulness of results-driven governance.
He equally urged the Governor-elect to see his re-election as a motivation to serve the Imo people better, and scale up the gear of good governance and quality leadership to consolidate the good works recorded during his first term.
According to the press statement, "The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) heartily congratulate the Governor and Governor-elect of Imo State, H.E Dist Senator Hope Uzodinma and Deputy Governor-elect, Lady Chinyere Ihuoma Ekemaru, on the resounding victory at the polls in the just concluded gubernatorial election."
"From the time you assumed office on 15th January 2020 your administration has delivered many unprecedented accomplishments that can only be traced to the ingenuity of your personality and the purposefulness of results-driven governance."
"We wish your administration the best of leadership and pray that Almighty God grants you and your team more wisdom, strength, guidance to deliver on your promise to do more."
"As a Nigerian Students , we pledge our unflinching loyalty and support to your Government as we commit to driving peace and we are ever ready to support in the State optimally to further your laudable objective to do more in terms of infrastructure and development of the State.", the statement concluded.
In same vein, the NANS Vice President Special Duties also used the medium to felicitate with Christians faithful across the country on the occasion of this year Christmas celebration.
