The Chairman of the committee, Alhaji Taiwo OYEBANJO, in the season's greeting, rejoiced with the christian faithfuls on the celebration of Christmas which commemorates the birth of the Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
He rejoices with them on this important and symbolic celebration, as he charged them to allow the purpose of the season to always reflect in their attitude and character.
"As you celebrate Christmas, which commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, i urge you to spread the message of love and compassion, foster togetherness and family bonding, and promote peace and unity", said OYEBANJO.
He further enjoined them to celebrate modestly, and also remember the less-privileged in the society by showing them some love in this yuletide.
As he felicitates the christians on the christmas celebration, OYEBANJO who is also the Vice Chairman, Iperu Development Association, wished the entire sons and daughters of Iperu Akesanland, a peaceful and prosperous new year.
He reminds everyone of the forthcoming Ojude Oba 2024 Celebration, as he seeks the cooperation and support of all Iperu indigenes, both at home, and in the diaspora, to ensure a successful 2024 Ojude-Oba celebration.
The Ojude Oba Iperu is an age-long carnival-like event dated back to the year 1882, and it is usually celebrated on the third day of Ileya to pay homage to the king, while friends, families, and peer groups/clubs also used the opportunity to socialise.
After several years of hiatus, the event which is meant to celebrate the town's socio-cultural heritage, and promote oneness and friendliness among its people, has now been resuscitated and repackaged by the Iperu Development Association through the Taiwo OYEBANJO-led committee.
It will be recalled that following the royal blessings and consent of the Alaperu of Iperu, His Royal Highness, Alayeluwa Oba Adeleke Adelekan IDOWU-BASIBO (Odoru V), FIEX, FICMC, the Ojude Oba Iperu 2024 Planning Committee was inaugurated on 3rd September, 2023, while the Ojude Oba Iperu 2024 Celebration was formally unveiled on Sunday, 8th October, 2023.
The 2024 edition will hold on the third day of Ileya (June, 2024), at the Oja Ale Square, Iperu.
