OYEGBOLA-SODIPO, ANLG COUNCIL CHAIRMAN LAUNCHES HEALTHCARE INITIATIVE SCHEME FOR THE ELDERS IN THE LGA, KICK-STARTS WITH 250 PEOPLE

The Executive Chairman Abeokuta North Local Government, Hon. 'Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo on Thursday 28th November, 2024 launched Healthcare Initiative Scheme for elders kick-started with 250 aged people in the Local Government Area.

This 250 aged people assembled in the Local Government Secretariat at Habbeb Ajayi Multi-purpose Hall, ranged from the Community Development Community (CDC), Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Group of Baales, etc.

Hon. Oyegbola-Sodipo made it known that the Healthcare Initiative scheme is aimed at improving the quality of live for senior citizens in the Council Area by providing medical support systems that will help them age independently and with dignity.

He further stated that the Healthcare initiative programm will last for A-Year while in the subsequence, others would be enrolled reiterated that the programme targets Two Thousand (2000) aged, who are to be enrolled in the programme and was established  to add value to the lives of the elderly people and to teach them how to live a fulfilling life, free from health challenges, neglect and isolation.

In a separate contributions, Dr. Afolabi Dosunmu, Dr.  Ogungbe, OGSHC and Dr. Oladipupo Afonja all appreciated the Executive Chairman for the quick earnest of the programme ensured to elderly ones in the LGA, explained to beneficiaries not to only keep the NHIS Card that will be issued to them but to also make use of it for their routines which is for the timely medical checkup. In the same vein, the Head of the Local Government Administration in the LG thanked all the aged present at the Healthcare Initiative scheme that they should heed to the advice given to them on their health system.

Earlier, the Vice Chairman of the Local Government who is also doubles as the Committee Chairman Healthcare Initiative, Hon. Taiyelolu Egbeyemi, affirmed that the Scheme is expected to benefit thousands of elderly people in the LGA but to kick-start with 250. Aged people who will now have access to quality healthcare without the burden of out-of-pocket spending and that will last for just A-Year beginning from Sunday 1st December, 2024 to Sunday 30th November, 2025.

Hon. Egbeyemi added that the Executive Chairman, Hon. Oyegbola-Sodipo bankrolled the first 250 aged Healthcare Initiative in the LGA.

Present at the Healthcare programme were: APC Party Chairman ANLG, Alhaja Faidat Sarumi Akintunde; the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Prof. Saka Adelola Matemilola, FNSE represented by Chief Adelani Aderemi Adebayo, His Royal Majesty; Oba (Prof) Alexander Olusegun Macgregor; Olu Orile Ilawo, Special Adviser to the Governor on Bureau of Lands & Survey, Mrs. Oyindamola Oyelese, Chief Oluwole Ayorinde; Executive Secretary Abeokuta North LGA.

Others dignitaries are: Hon. Commissioner for Special Duties & Intergovernmental Affairs; Hon. Olufunmilayo Efuwape, Senior Special Adviser on Media to Ogun State Governor, Hon. Ifekayode, Alhaji Bakai Okedara (Are Owu Kingdom), Head of the LG Administration of the LG, Directors and Head of the Department/Unit Head.
