BY: IBRAHIM METILO, ABEOKUTA

The Executive Chairman of
Abeokuta South Local Government Ake, Hon. Omolaja Ayodele Majekodunmi, has  urged parents to make themselves role models to their wards.

He made the comment in a press release signed  by the Information Officer of the council, Mr. Kola Sodeinde at the council's secretariat in Ake, Abeokuta.

He said, since charity begins at home, the onus is on parents to direct their wards to the right ways and  lead lives worthy of emulation themselves in order for the wards to follow suit.

Further said: "the only charity acceptable from parents to their children is to equip the children's tool boxes with the right tools for life. To equit them with Godliness, charity, hygiene, ambition, focus, initiative, patrotism, generosity, amongst others.

According to him: "Parenting is not easy and never will be. However, it cannot be shelved for the sake of everyone. Care need be taken by parents to see the need to make themsleves moral statues for their children to avoid a situation where  the children will look up to others; who will lead them astray."

"I want to urge parents to give their children  the upbringing of the glorious children gifted to us by the almighty God in Abeokuta South local government.

"Please, do not to take for granted the physical, psychological, educational, social and emotional growth of these children in order to lay good foudation for their adulthood." He said.

He equally went further that he would like parents and guardians to join the government in its efforts to ensure dividends of democracy is evenly shared among children.

He said he would like philantropists, especially from the private sector, to join him to make life better for children from poor and vulnerable backgrounds.
