IPOKIA LG RECEIVES COVID-19 VACCINES, TRAINS HEALTH WORKERS

The Chairman, Transition Committee, Ipokia Local Government, Hon Abdulkabir Abolurin has received Covid-19 vaccines, commended the Federal Government for her efforts at combating and eradicating COVID-19 scourge in Nigeria.

He made this known while he declared the effectiveness of the Covid-19 vaccines amids the training at Ipokia Local Government Area on thursday 11th March 2021.

The Council boss assured the people that the vaccines are safe and effective for Humans health and that It has been administered In Fifty (50) mostly high Income Countries and that National Agency For Food and Drugs Administration Control (NAFDAC) has certified It as safe.

He charged the people In the Council Area to continue to support government at all Levels to wipe out Covid-19 completely. He also lauded the medical Personnel at the Local Government for their tireless efforts at curbbing the dreaded Covid-19. 

He admonished them not to relent on thier Oars for government will still give them continuate supports in the foregoing exercise.

Earlier in her lecture, The Local Immunization Officer (LIO), Mrs. Adeyanju Moriliat Olubukola disclosed that the program is in four (4) Phases; the first phase is aimed at vaccinating health workers , frontline workers who operate at point of entries, such as Air, Land and Sea port's, military personnel, laboratory workers, Policemen and Filling station attendants against Infection of Covid-19. The other three (3) phases are directed at larger public.

She further said that those that are below eighteen (18) years of age are not eligible to take the vaccines. 

She reiterated that, pregnant women are not eligible either unless medical director directed them to obtain it.

The Disease Surveillance Nursing Officer ( D.S.N.O) of Ipokia Local Government, Mr Olawale Olaleye said that the vaccines are aimed at Strengthening the health workers and Other Officers at the port of entry,  He further said that the Importance of the vaccines cannot be overemphasized as it helps bodies develop Immunity to the Virus that causes Covid-19 without getting the illness.

In an Address which was read during the program, the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Faisal Shuaib said that " this scheme will assist Immunization teams and stakeholders in the vaccination plan to combat the Covid-19 scourge. This it provides an opportunity to strengthen the existing National immunization program and broader primary Health Care

 System".
