Following the emergence of Yisa Olaniyan Adeniyi Adelakun as Onipokia of Ipokia in Ipoka local government of Ogun State and subsequent presentation of staff of office to him by the State government, the Iwaye Idodo ruling house has kicked against the selection process.
The ruling house, described the selection as fraudulent and the installation as miscalculated error.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday in Ipokia, on behalf of the Oteni Botemole Royal family under the Iwaye Idodo ruling family, Prince Oba Nla Oteni explained that out of the 16 kingmakers, only five were alive, stressing that Olisa and Aro must be alive before the selection could take place but both are deceased.
He explained that the five kingmakers went ahead to select their candidate of choice out of eight candidates jostling for the stool, a situation, Oteni said was against position of law and custom of Ipokia community.
He said that several suits which were instituted by aggrieved contestants and indigenes of the community are yet to be heard, appealing to the State judiciary not to allow " some people with lower moral value to involve them in a criminal gang up".
His words: " We believe that the court remains the only hope for the common man and the oppressed, the fulcrum of justice and arbitat of good conscience.
As a good citizen of this country, I am one of those that still have the hope that the court of law will not allow itself to be swayed by the money bags, we passionately appeal to the judiciary to perform it's constitutional roles without bias or favour"
" We also passionately appeal to the Ogun State government to allow the court to perform it's constitutional roles without any interference"
" Since we have filed our papers through our lawyers, we feel strongly and also have the right to be heard by the court. Further delay by the court is not in the best interest of Ipokia and her people", he concluded.
