...condemns the rates of managing refuse from the market while ensuring that sanity will take its course

The Management of Abeokuta North Local Government in Akomoje has ejected all the occupants of the Shopping Complex at Olomore market to pave way for the renovation and reconstruction work that is about to commence. This was officially communicated to them by the Executive Chairman Hon.'Lanre Oyegbola- Sodipo, who was represented by the Honourable Leader of the Legislative Council Hon. Moruf Erubami.
He noted that the rate at which the market is currently being managed could cause an epidemic in area if not properly managed noting also that the renovation has to be carried out on the Shopping Complex to avert danger. He stressed that the purpose is to ensure comfort and easy trading environment to all the marketers.
Mrs Kikelomo Ajayi, Head of Local Government Administration admonished all the traders to ensure utmost sanitary measures put in place in the market environment for the benefit of all and sundry are properly adhered to and that the Iyaloja and Babaloja (i.e The Market's Heads) should do away with all acts or behaviours that is capable of bringing the market environment to the state of insanitary, and,or unhealthy.
Speaking also during the facility visit to the market, the Director, Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation in Council area, Sanitarian Ige Samuel appealed to traders to begin parking their items from those shops as the work will commence in earnest. Claiming that an official notice had earlier been given to them since December, 2024
Sanitarian Ige then warned that traders should desist from further constituting nuisance in the area such as open defecation, blowing of rock, filthy environment and general insanitary environment as such act will no longer be tolerated and that anyone caught will be severely dealt with while also reminding them that it's contrary to the Public Health Law of the country
Other senior staff in the train include, other Principal Officers and the Legislators from the Local Government, Directors/Heads of the Department amongst others.
