FMC ABEOKUTA: STAFF BICKER OVER NEW DIRECTOR OF ADMIN, SEEK REVERSAL

Fresh crisis is brewing in the Federal Medical Center, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital over the appointment of Mr Exodus Kehinde Apanisile as the fifth Substantive Director of Administration of the Centre.

The ugly development followed the disregard for the conditions listed in the advertisement for the position.

Leader of the Concerned Staff of the Hospital, L.R Atitebi, described the appointment as rude shock and unacceptable.

Atitebi explained that the first requirement stated that interested candidates must possess a good degree in either Hospital or Health Services management or the Humanities or Social Sciences from a recognised university or its
equivalent.

He added that it is owever, it beggars the question that the rumoured Substantive Director of
Administration of Federal Medical Centre possesses his first degree in Mathematics Education.

"It is unheard of that a candidate who possessed mathematics education will be invited for the interview for the position in the first place while Tajudeen-Oyesiji who possessed the needed qualifications will be neglected" he said.
"We believe that the decision of the Ministry to waive certain criteria for interested candidates was done in good fate but not at the detriment of suitable and qualified candidate" Atitebi commented.

"we reliably gathered that out of the three candidates interviewed for the job Mrs O. F. Tajudeen-Oyesiji
came first ahead of two candidate but the Ministry jettisoned
merit and imposed Apanisile on the Hospital" He concluded.

Atitebi, however, asked the Health Minister and other stakeholders to review the decision in order to prevent possible industrial disharmony in the Centre and to redeem the image of Public Service as reputable institution with ethical principles.
