HON. OYEGBOLA- SODIPO INAUGURATES 8th LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL, CHARGES THEM TO SERVE DILIGENTLY WITH UTMOST SINCERITY.

The Executive Chairman, Abeokuta  North Local Government, Hon. 'Lanre Oyegbola - Sodipo has inaugurated the 8th Legislative Council  members representing 16 wards of the Local Government Area while charging them to serve diligently with sincerity of purpose and to humanity.

The Council Boss gave the charge at the inauguration  ceremony which was held on Friday 29th, November 2024 at the Legislative  Chamber of the Local Government Secretariat, Akomoje in Abeokuta. 

He congratulated the newly elected Councillors for their victory at the polls and charged them to be good ambassadors of the Council Area and work assiduously with the executive towards bringing the much awaited dividend of democracy to the teeming populace.

Hon. Oyegbola solicited for their unflinching support and cooperation through passing of relevant bills that would bring about unprecedented development and in a bid to take the Local Government to an enviable height  

He further charged them to generate new ideas, innovation and strategies while making laws in order to tackle headlong the challenges that had been hindering the growth of the Council Area over the years.

Speaking at the event, one of the Party Leaders and a former Chairman in the Local Government, Hon. Wale Abeeb Ajayi, congratulated both the Executive and Legislative Members for their victory at the just concluded elections and urged them to work as a team as that is the only way to achieve results at the end of the day. He reiterated that they should eschew violence, rancour, mistrust and misunderstanding because, all of these scatter a long time relationship fast. 

Earlier, the Clerk of the legislature, Mr. Faremi Olusola who conducted an election for the Leader of the House where Hon. Erubami Moruf Ajani (Ward 15, Okeogun) emerged as the Leader of Legislative House.He then admonished that all Councillors must acknowledge the functions of the local government system in Ogun State Law for guidance and proper enactment of by-laws. He further urged them to note that they were called Honourable because their people bestowed honour on them to represent them at their respective wards, noting that they should work in support of the Executive for their benefits and generality of the people.

The Leader of the Legislative House, Hon. Erubami Moruf Ajani in his statement appreciated all the Party Stalwarts, the Executive Chairman, Vice Chairman and all the electorates for their show of love and affection which brought them to the seats first as Honourable Councillors and as Principal Officers. He promised to carry along other members in everything as one big family, a singular effort which he believes will bring about the needed support and cooperation.

Meanwhile, the 8th Legislative Council  commenced their  Legislative function immediately by electing their principal  officers where Hon. Komolafe Waheed Ajani( From Gbagura, Ward 8) emerged as the Deputy Leader, Hon. Olasehinde Ojoye (From Ward 3, Oke-Ona) was elected as Majority Leader, While Hon. Ajibola Moruf Ayodele, (From Ward 12, Owu) was unanimously elected as the Chief  Whip in that order.

Taiyelolu Egbeyemi, Vice Chairman Abeokuta North LG,Alhaja Faidat Sarumi Akintunde, Abeokuta North APC Party Chairperson, Engr.Seni Ayorinde, Princess Ronke Ogunremi.
