LIGHT-UP IPERU BOARD COMMENCES OPERATION, AS ALAPERU FLAGS OFF SOLAR POWER PROJECT

The Light-Up Iperu Board has formally commence operations, just as the Alaperu of Iperu, His Royal Highness, Alayeluwa, Oba Adeleke Adelekan IDOWU-BASIBO, FIEX, FICMC (Odoru V), flagged-off the community's Solar Electricity Project.

The symbolic event which held at the palace of the monarch yesterday had in attendance the Alaregun of Iregun, Oba Abraham Adedoyin OGUNFOWORA; the Lisa of Iperu, High Chief Rotimi ODUTONA; Chairman, Iperu Development Association, Chief Babajide OYETI; and Chairman, of the Light-Up Iperu Board, Prince Wale OYEKOYA; and members of the newly-inaugurated board.

The board whose composition was made known via a release from the Chairman, Iperu Development Association, Chief Babajide OYETI, on the 4th December, 2023, was constituted in the association"s effort at seeking a better and conducive living and business environment for the people of Iperu, and also at consolidating on the benevolence of the #15,000,000.00 Solar Lights donation to the community by Mr. Lanre SHITTU, Chairman, Suntrust Bank.
It was set up primarily to ensure the total electrification of Iperu, using non-conventional models such as solar systems and its likes, and also through an interface with the IBEDC as well as other energy/power agencies.

 It is also expected to provide the necessary advocacy, management architecture, guidance, and interventions required at improving electricity supply, and further attracting solar power coverage to the community, and equally ensuring sustenance/maintenance best practices.
Other members of the Light-Up Iperu Board, board are Engr. Oladimeji SOTINWA; Sir Adeyemi ADEITAN, Secretary of the board; Otunba Adebayo SALAMI; and Mrs. Adeyemi SHITTU.

Also appointed as members are Mr. Ezekiel Okanlawon FADERO; and Mr. Lukman ODUKOYA.

Members were chosen after due consultation with the Alaperu of Iperu, His Royal Highness, Oba Adeleke Adelekan IDOWU-BASIBO (Odoru V), and other stakeholders within the town.

The board has as its goals and objectives,  the following:

1. To determine the energy requirements of the community, and prioritise same using strategic parameters.

2. To further carry out advocacy initiatives among the citizens in order to encourage them as benefactors to play an active role in the project.

3. To work towards the acquisition of Solar systems and allied materials, using the best practice models.

4. To ensure the installation of the facilities, by adopting quality and durable materials.

5. To ensure the continuous maintenance of the facilities for sustainable purpose.

6. To identify critical stakeholders of like minds, and encourage their participation in the project, with the vision of expanding the vision to all axis of the town.

7. To ensure transparency and accountability in the management of funds, operations, and decision-making process of the project.

8. To continuously assess and respond to the evolving energy needs and challenges of the Iperu Remo community, and adopting new strategies and initiatives accordingly.

Through the implementation of the above-listed goals and objectives, coupled with members vast knowledge and wide contacts, the Light-Up Iperu Board is expected to make a meaningful and sustainable impact on  Iperu community as a whole.
