MAJEKODUNMI, CABINETS BID FAREWELL TO THE FORMER ASLG CHAIRMAN, OGUNMEFUN

As part of funeral activities for the former Executive Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Hezekiah Afolabi Ogunmefun Thursday August 4th, 2023, Hon. Omolaja Ayodele Majekodunmi's led Administration paid their last respect as they organized Lying - State for his soul at Olusegun Taiwo Hall in the Local Government Secretariat, Ake.

Late Ogunmefun was born on the 14th of August, 1945 to the family of late Micheal and Mrs. Abigail Ogunmefun in Soyinka Village, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, joined politics in 1991 and won an election as the Executive Chairman of Abeokuta South LG in 1996 and later became a Liason Officer of Ogun State Governor's Office in 2001 under the regime of Former State Governor, His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Osoba, and died on 17th June, 2023 at the age of 78.

Executive Chairman of the LG, Hon Omolaja Ayodele Majekodunmi in his address, expressed that this kind of Celebration of Life should be a culture to emulate by rejoicing with the loved ones who have/had served meritoriously as the Chairman in Abeokuta South Local Government Area, not only when they are dead, but also when they are still alive. 

The Council Boss stated that the late Ogunmefun was a loving and peaceful man who lived an exemplary life and impacted positively the life of the dwellers and political class in the Council Area while eulogizing all the past Chairmen present at the epoch-making event.

Mr. Moruf Ogunrinde who spoke on behalf of the Family and Mrs. Mayowa Tayo, on behalf of the children, made it known that the Late Ogunmefun was a caring father whom the members of the family would dearly miss.

On the part of Chief Olu Odeyemi, one of the former Chairmen present, expressed that he took over the baton of the Chairmanship from him, and nonetheless, urged the people in power to exhibit good character to the governed ones. "Let because of tomorrow keep today". He advised.

Others who gave goodwill messages during the event were Mr. Abraham W.O Aregbesola who served as the deceased Director of Personnel Management (DPM) now referred to as Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Hon.                   

A Supervisory Councilor, Hon. Akinyemi shimiu during the deceased tenure served as his Vice Chairman. He spoke of his good deeds while working with him.

Words of exhaustion were given by Bro. Adeolu Sobowale of The Christian Fellowship Chapel, the Local Government, Ake while the Choristers from the Chapel also rendered farewell songs for the departed soul.
