ODEDA LOCAL GOVERNMENT PARTNERS WITH ASSAPIN ON SELF SUSTAINANCE IN FOOD PRODUCTION

 As part of its efforts to key into the self sustanance in food production agenda of the Federal Government, Odeda Local Government has partnered  with the Association of Small Scale Agro-producers in Nigeria (ASSAPIN), a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), specialised in agro farming, sales and marketing as well as training consultancy in collaboration with Agricultural Development Project. 

   The Executive Chairman, Odeda Local Government,Hon. (Mrs.) Afolasade Adeyemo  enjoined the farmers in the local government to see the opportunity of the farm products as a support to improving Agricultural sector for the sustainable development in the locality. 

The council boss said this during the flag-off  ceremony of the Agricultural program, held on 26th April 2022 at Emere town hall, Odeda.

She stressed the importance of the Association of small scale Agro-producers in Nigeria as germane with  their vision which is to envisage a just and equity Nigeria in which small scale farmers are recognized and empower for hunger free and wealth nation.

Speaking earlier, Ambassador Akin Davies, chairman of the Association; nevertheless charged the farmers in the local government area to be more pro-active in producing more of the cassava flour and ofada rice as the LG is endowed with natural products.

In-the same vein, Mrs Omolara Oguntuyi, the south west zonal Director,Federal Ministry of Agriculture however appreciated the co-ordinator of the programme, Amb, Akin Davies for giving Odeda LG the first privilege of the opportunity to kick-start the program and also enjoined the farmers not to sell the farm products to other person except for the association.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Bernice Ajani appreciated the initiator of the programme for deeming it fit to organize the programme.

 In attendance were all political functionaries,Head of Local Government administration, Mrs olufunke Adeniji and Heads of departments.
