JCI Rock City Plans To Organize Capacity Building Summit For 2000 Youths 


In a bid to provide sustainable solutions to some of the social, economic and environmental challenges in the country, the Junior Chamber International JCI Rock City said it has concluded plans to organise a capacity building summit for 2,000 Nigerian youths.

The Association believe that the summit would empower youths to explore innovative ideas and tackle economic challenges. 

This according to the JCI Rock City President, JCI Amb. Olalekan Egbetola, at a press conference in Abeokuta, said the Summit, tagged "Youth Leadership and Development: A panacea to Nation Building is in conjunction with the Ogun State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and the Ministry of Youths and Sports, scheduled for June, 21st 2022 at the Cultural center Abeokuta.

Amb. Egbetola hinted that the beneficiaries will be carefully selected based on their proposal adding that they would be interviewed on why they need the grant and the sponsors are ready to empower them. 

He revealed that the summit would targeted over 2000 youths (unemployed, underemployed and unemployable) in Ogun State including students from higher institutions around the state.


His words "Ogun State Youths Development and Empowerment Summit is the first edition that we will be launching in Ogun State and also this is actually an avenue for JCI Rock City to come up with a project and a program that would empower youths."

"Our mission implies, as a JCI is to provide development opportunity that empower young people to create positive change."

"So we are bringing over 2,000 youths in Ogun State both employed and unemployed, both people into entrepreneurship and people from government sector."

"We are actually partnering with the Ogun State government through the Ogun State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and the Ministry of Youths and Sports to organise this particular event."

In the recent time, we realized that a whole lot of things are going wrong in the society among the Youths, so we have decided to bring under a particular roof, six man panelists and also keynotes speakers from different sectors to talk about leadership, entrepreneurship and how we can actually develop ourselves as individual and this bounce back from one of the major opportunity of JCI which is individual opportunity.", Amb. Egbetola concluded.


On her part, the Chairperson of the summit, JCI Damilola Olakanye hinted that the summit would provide Youths with tools to build and engage on impactful projects adding that the participants will gain expertise on skills that would harness their leadership traits.
