OGUN DEPUTY GOVERNOR, ENGR. NOIMOT SALAKO-OYEDELE APPLAUDS IKENNE LG HOLGA, ENGR. OLANIKE OGUNBONA'S GIANT STRIDES; AS APWEN INAUGURATES NEW EXECUTIVE

The Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Her Excellency, Engr. Noimot SALAKO-OYEDELE, has applauded the giant strides of the Head of Local Government Administration, Ikenne Local Government, Engr. Olanike OGUNBONA, FNSE, for the tremendous achievements recorded during her tenure as the Chairman, Association of Professional Women Engineers, Abeokuta chapter.

Engr. SALAKO-OYEDELE gave this applause on Thursday, while speaking at the investiture of Engr. Temitayo ADEGBUYI as the 3rd Chairman and inauguration of new executive members of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Abeokuta chapter.

The Deputy Governor commended Engr. OGUNBONA for her tremendous achievements as the 2nd Chairman of the APWEN, while she congratulated Engr. ADEGBUYI, the new Chairman, and implored her to use the  achievements of her predecessor as the baseline, urging her to aim at taking the chapter to greater heights.

In her address at the event, held at the Alake's  palace, Abeokuta; the newly-inaugurated Chairman, Engr. Temitayo ADEGBUYI stated that the association will embark on an aggressive campaign towards making engineering attractive to girls; through a reduction in the risk of high ability, low-income females, who find it difficult attending college, and are not interested in studying STEM subjects.

Earlier in her welcome address, Engr. OGUNBONA glorified God, for how far he has taken the chapter; she thanked all the executive members who made her tenure a success, and was grateful to the entire members for their support and cooperation, which made all the achievements recorded, which are mostly-centred on encouraging the girl-child becoming an Engineer, a reality.

She enjoined them to extend same hands of fellowship to her successor.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Chairman of the Day, who also doubles as the National President of APWEN, Engr. Funmilola OJELADE, FNSE, also eulogized Engr. OGUNBONA, the Immediate Past Chairman of the chapter, who she described as a phenomenal woman and change agent; a sister, friend, and old classmate at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife. 

Highpoint of the event was the handover from the outgoing Chairman to the incoming Chairman; and a lecture from the Guest Speaker, Engr. Mojirade OLORUNTOBA, who spoke on the theme: Prospects and Challenges of Digital Transformation in Nigeria.
