OGUN COMMISSIONER COMMENDS IKENNE LG BOSS FOR PRUDENT MANAGEMENT OF RESOURCES


The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ogun State, Hon. Afolabi AFUAPE, has commended the Executive Chairman of Ikenne Local Government, Hon. Olusegun OGUNLEYE for his prudent management of the council's resources.

The Commissioner gave this commendation at Iperu on Wednesday,  during the commissioning of a block of 8 Lock-up Shops built by the OGUNLEYE's administration, as part of activities marking his 100 Days in Office.

Hon. AFUAPE appreciated the council boss for his proactiveness and ability to think out of the box, and that despite the limited resources at the council's disposal, he was able to execute the project, the first that he as the Commissioner will inaugurate in this dispensation

He also commended his choice as the Chairman, stressing the need to always elect those who can think deeply, and manage resources effectively, into offices.

Hon. AFUAPE also thanked the Governor, Prince Dapo ABIODUN, MFR, for his support to the local governments through his release of grants to the immediate-past Transition Committees
According to him, the grants released to the local governments, twice, helped in the execution of over 140 projects that were inaugurated across the 20 council areas.

In his welcome address, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Olusegun OGUNLEYE, praised God for his grace, and also thanked the Governor, Prince Dapo ABIODUN, MFR, for the opportunity given him to serve his people.

He also thanked all the leaders and members of his party, the All Progressives Congress, and the electorate, for their support to him, before, during, and after the election.
The council boss expressed his appreciation to the Alaperu of Iperu, His Royal Highness, Oba Adeleke IDOWU-BASIBO, for releasing the land upon which the project was sited.

"These Lock-up Shops were built solely from the council's Internally-Generated Revenue, to commemorate our administration's 100 Days in Office, in an effort to put into a good use, and boost trading activities at the location", said the Chairman.

While commending the Head of Local Government Administration, Engr. Olanike OGUNBONA, FNSE, and the entire staff for their support towards the successful implementation of the project, he assured the Commissioner that with an improved IGR and grants from the state government, his administration shall deliver on more people-oriented projects.

He therefore appealed to the people for a regular payment of taxes, rates and levies due to the local government.

Various speakers at the event paid glowing tributes to the Chairman and his team, for their ingenuity.

Olalekan IFEDE; Commissioner, Ogun State House of Assembly Service Commission, Barr. Dapo ODUKOYA; Executive Director, Lagos Airport Hotel, Hon. Bisi ADESINA; Women Leader, APC, Ikenne Local Government, Alhaja Fausat ADEYIGA; Messrs Doyin ADESINA; and Kola ODUSANYA.

Olanike OGUNBONA, FNSE, on behalf of the local government, expressed immense appreciation to the Honourable Commissioner for his love for the local government, as she craved for more consideration and support.
