Prof. Salako Preaches Discipline As FUNAAB Matriculates 4,087 Fresh Students




The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State, Prof. Felix Kolawole Salako has admonished new intakes of the University to be committed, focused and disciplined so as to graduate in flying colours.

Similarly, the university on Wednesday matriculated 4,087 students admitted for full programmes of the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Felix Kolawole Salako disclosed this during the 2019/2020 Matriculation Oath taking ceremony held at the Ceremonial building of the university.

Prof. Salako explained that, a total number of 10,328 applicants shown interest in the university for the 2019/2020 admission exercise, while a total number of 9,865 attended the Post-UTME screening exercise.

He stressed further that, about 4,230 applicants were offered provisional admission in strict compliance with the University quota as approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

The Vice Chancellor, however, noted that, only 4,087 applicants were finally registered as new students of the institution.

He also boasted that FUNAAB remains a reference point in entrepreneurial, scientific and agricultural education, adding that her graduates were proven job creators and role models as dependable employees.

He maintained that, the university is committed to its vision and mission of producing graduates adequately equipped to handle contemporary challenges through cutting edge research in Agriculture and science driven by Information and Communication Technology,  ICT.

"We are resolute in flying our core values of academic excellence tied with integrity, accountability, high moral standards as well as ethical behaviour and fairness in all relationship with students and staff. Our goal is to be a world-class University, building men and women who would be great achievers in their chosen fields of interest and academic pursuits. 

"To achieve this goal, our fresh students must strive at all times not to compromise excellence and they must also avail themselves of the various programmes/events/activities provided by the University from time to time. You are encouraged to make use of our Guidance and Counselling Unit as well as relate well with your Departmental Supervisor."
