The Chairman, Transition   Committee, Sagamu Local Government, Hon. Gbenga BANJO, has renamed the popular Cinema Road, Sagamu, as Anthony Joshua Way, to honour the World Boxing Champion, Anthony Obafemi Olaseni Joshua, for retaining the IBF, WBA,.and WBO titles.

Speaking during the unveiling ceremony, Hon. Banjo felicitated and congratulated the  family members of the boxer, an illustrious son of Sagamu, for making Ogun State, and particularly, Sagamu Local Government, proud.

Hon. Banjo said the honour done to Anthony would serve as a way of acknowledging and  encouraging his  can-do-spirit, urging youths to emulate him.

He called on stakeholders to be partners in progress, and contribute their quota towards the  development of sporting activities, so that the local government can attain  greater heights in sports.

He charged the younger sportsmen and women to be more diligent and determined, and also focus on other areas of sports, not only in boxing.

Hon. Banjo added that there are plans to transform the old Cinema house into a modern sports centre for the development of grassroot talents, in order to remove poverty from people and thereby, reducing crime in the Local  Government area.

He prayed for the great boxer that God will continue to strengthen him, as he shines from glory to glory .

Responding on behalf of the family, Mrs. Oyinade Adekoya,  appreciated the kind gesture of the local government and the unalloyed effort of the Council boss at ensuring that the popular cinema road is renamed after their son.

"This is a credit to your administration, so we thank you," said, Mrs. Adekoya.

She called on the youths to demonstrate pure love, kindness, honesty, and not relent in their efforts to be all they can be in the nearest future

In attendance at the event were the council's political functionaries; and the council management, led by the Head of Local Government Administration, Mr. Adewale Bamiro.
